Works
Asahi(Sunrise)
Asahi (Sunrise) began as a flute–piano duo originally titled Green Time, conceived from a melody that surfaced while leaving a park. During orchestration the piece expanded into a brief orchestral tableau: an image formed of the sun gently rising through morning mist, highlighted by the horn’s sustained G. The work is in ternary form; the opening flute theme gives way to a contrasting middle section before returning, and the main melody is presented as solos in succession by flute, oboe, clarinet, and bassoon—both introducing the woodwinds’ colours and guiding the listener from quiet encounter to luminous arrival. Duration: approx. 2′08″.
